The Deputy Chief of Defence Forces, Lt Gen Peter Elwelu has today met Maj Gen Laurent Boite, the Force Commander of the French Forces stationed in Djibouti who paid a courtesy visit at the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs/UPDF Headquarters, Mbuya.
Lt Gen Elwelu and Maj Gen Boite discussed issues ranging from capacity building, training, and security challenges.
The meeting highlighted the need for collaboration among regional forces to defeat and degrade the capacity of negative forces that remain a challenge to the region.
Both parties agreed to enhance their cooperation and coordination for mutual benefit.
The Ambassador of France to Uganda H.E Xavier Sticker, French Defence Attaché Lt Col Yann Chollet, Chief of Staff – Land Force Maj Gen Jack Bakasumba and Chief Political Commissar Maj Gen Henry Masiko attended the meeting among others.
