Egypt’s President Hosts Gen Kainerugaba

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi met with Chief of Defence Forces of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, on Wednesday.

 

The meeting was attended by Egypt’s Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defence and Military Production, General Abdel Megeed Saqr. General Kainerugaba conveyed greetings and appreciation from Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni to President Al-Sisi for the good relations between Uganda and Egypt.

President Al-Sisi also expressed his appreciation for President Museveni and lauded the historical relations between Egypt and Uganda. Both sides confirmed their mutual desire to enhance cooperation between the two countries in various fields, especially in the military sphere.

Gen Al-Sisi and Gen Kainerugaba discussed regional and continental situations and ways to enhance joint cooperation and development efforts among African countries, especially the Nile Basin countries, the Horn of Africa, and East Africa.

 

Gen Kainerugaba, who attended his Company Commander’s Course in Egypt, was last in Egypt in 2022, where he also met the country’s president and top military leaders. Gen Kainerugaba has publicly stated his admiration for President Sisi’s transformational and developmental initiatives
