The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) of the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF), Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, hosted his Rwandan counterpart, Mubarakh Muganga, for a dinner at Lake Victoria Serena Hotel in Kigo.
Gen Kainerugaba thanked his guest for the visit and commended the strong military cooperation between Uganda and Rwanda, attributing the enduring partnership to the strategic leadership of President Yoweri Museveni and President Paul Kagame.
Gen Muganga expressed gratitude for the warm reception, stating that he proudly considers Uganda a second home.
The Rwandan general was in Uganda to deliver a lecture to UPDF officers at the Senior Command and Staff College in Kimaka, Jinja.
General Muganga joined the NRA/UPDF in 1985, trained in Singo Nakaseke District for basic military course. He later trained under the British Military Advisory Training Team (BMATT) at the Non-Commissioned Officers Academy (NCO) at Gadaffi barracks in Jinja. In 1988, he enrolled for the Officer Cadet Course at the School of Infantry in Jinja, commissioning as a second Lieutenant in 1989.
Both generals reaffirmed their commitment to continued collaboration in safeguarding their countries and the broader region.
Gen Muganga was accompanied by Brig Gen Ronald Rwivanga, while the UPDF’s Commander Land Force (CLF), Lt Gen Kayanja Muhanga, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Abbas Byakagaba, and other senior UPDF and security officials from Police and Prisons attended the dinner.
